The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) is now the building control body for HRB’s in England, part of the Health and Safety Executive. This means that if you are working on an HRB you must use the BSR as Building Control.
The BSR also has the new function of overseeing and validating existing private and local building control bodies to upskill the industry and ensure compliance. This will include assessing the competence of professional’s within Building Control Bodies to ensure they are only working on projects they are suitably trained to do so and ensuring that Registered Building Control Approvers are supported and advised where necessary.
You are likely to see more of a site presence from these bodies to ensure compliance, they also have the power to request evidence of compliance and even open finished areas of work to ensure workmanship is at a satisfactory level if records have not been kept.
