The BSA introduces new duty holders, including the Client, Principal Designer (PD BR), Principal Contractor (PC BR), General Designers and General Contractors.

Each of these duty holders have specific duties, but there are some general responsibilities that apply to all, these include:

• Making suitable and sufficient arrangements and systems to comply with all applicable building regulations.
• Co-operate and communicate with all other duty holders.
• Provide proof that they, as designers or contractors, are competent to carry out the role both individually and at an organisational level.
