Managing change is crucial to compliance with building regulations. The BSA emphasises certainty and compliance by attempting to reduce changes during the construction phase.

Although a change control log and mandatory reporting of some changes are a requirement of an HRB you will need to maintain and upkeep sufficiently detailed change control logs throughout the construction stage of all non-HRB projects too.

A sufficiently detailed changes control log would document the proposed change, their effect on building regulations, necessary drawing updates, consultation and approvals and any notifications required.

This process will enable you to be confident that any changes which may occur during the construction phase do not negatively affect the structural or fire safety of the building.
